MEDEA ACADEMY OVERVIEW
The MEDAC 2025 edition, organized in collaboration with the School of Computing at Ulster University, will offer a certified education program, focused on dedicated case studies, stimulating debates on current regulatory and legal reference frameworks and multidisciplinary working groups over a period of 4-days. The theme of this year’s event is the status, opportunities and challenges related to the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the healthcare sector.
Some of the key questions which delegates will try to answer during the four full days of MEDAC will include: What is the state of the art of the AI adoption in Europe? What are the expected values from reference stakeholders regarding the adoption of AI? What the concerns that key stakeholders have?
Indeed, AI holds significant promise for enhancing healthcare, however, the path to fully integrating AI into clinical practice is complex and requires time. In addition, concerns about AI capabilities, ease of integration, ethical considerations and the need for robust digital infrastructure are just some barriers to be overcome to fully take benefit from AI implementation in the healthcare sector. Achieving successful adoption of these new technologies will require ongoing collaboration, transparency and investment in technology, organization and training. The MEDAC will address this level of analysis in a specific think tank symposium performed with reference decision makers and stakeholders.
The MEDAC education sessions will be delivered by a multidisciplinary team of experts with a track record in research, legal/ethical issues, impact assessment and innovation management in healthcare. A number of exemplar Case Studies and best practices at local and European levels will be discussed.
Due to its strong international focus, specific format and active working group initiatives, the MEDEA Academy will strengthen the synergy between research, service communities, and industries to promote the effective, safe, responsible and sustainable adoption of AI.
